ARTIST PORTRAIT SERIES:

For the past ten years I have been photographing artists in San Diego County, attempting to capture their essence as expressed in their work. Initially, many of the artists I knew looked a lot like their work.  Inspired by Arnold Newman, I was challenged to create images of these artists beyond their art.  After taking portraits of 50 artist over time, it became evident I was seeing more of who they were as just people and allowing their personalities to come out.  Here are three images representative of the type of portraiture that is unique to the artists that I have produced.
